So what did Day 7 bring?

A whole week gone already!

I’ve had a slightly less busy day today, it’s my husband who’s been racing around getting stuff done while I work.  The second coat of paint has gone on the spare bedroom ceiling and the initial prep work has been started for painting the walls.

After a morning of that, he managed to clean the kitchen and look what’s awaiting us for breakfast now!

A lovely fresh batch of cinnamon rolls, turns out he’s a baker extraordinaire!  Who knew?!  Here’s the recipe, they come out beautifully fluffy, and if they lose that when they’re cool, you can always refresh them with 10 minutes in the oven.

This evening I’ve continued a bit with a couple of small embroidery projects, more on those later in the week, but otherwise we’ve chilled this evening, enjoying a sample cinnamon bun and travelling vicariously through others.

We came across various youtube travel channels last year and have been watching them as our wind down activity most evenings recently.  If we can’t travel in person, then we can do it vicariously through others, and this way we get to see all sorts of new places that we wouldn’t be able to afford to even if we weren’t in the current situation.

The channel we are watching the most at the minute are The Endless Adventure!

The reasons we can watch Eric and Allison so much is that they go all over the world and they hop all over, so they don’t stick to one continent long, you never know where they’re going to end up next.  Also, they not super excited about everything all the time!  Travel is exciting and they do get excited, but they’re not constantly shouting with glee or yelling at the camera about how amazing everything is, when some things clearly aren’t.  They experience travel as everyone does, with the odd flight delays, the odd lost item of luggage, working and travelling and getting drained, and we like that they don’t like every single food item that they try.  Sometimes, they just don’t like it and that’s ok.  But usually, they see amazing things and go to beautiful places and it’s really good for planning future adventures, or just for some good old escapism.

Their videos are also really nicely done, and get better as their playlist progresses, they’re only 10-12 minutes long on average, so binge-watching is pretty easy.  They also have a really nice way of talking to the camera and just seem to be genuinely nice people.

We’re watching the vlogs in order from (almost) the start, and I really recommend that, rather than picking a particular country that they visit, because that way you discover unexpected places, and it’s really nice to see how their vlogs have developed over time, (plus every now and again they refer back to previous experiences).  If somewhere doesn’t take your fancy, you can always skip to the next one.

To watch their entire playlist from the beginning, try this link.  We’re currently in New Zealand. Or if you want a taste, how about this one from Japan? Or, for the UK readers,  find out where to head next in the UK once we’re able to travel out and about again?

I’ll share another couple of channels that we’ve been enjoying with you tomorrow, but will leave you with The Endless Adventure for now: “Goodnight Adventurers!”
